International Overdose Awareness Day Aug. 31, 2019

International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on 31 August each year to raise awareness of overdose & reduce the stigma of a drug-related death.

Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death for Americans under 50 so, if you or someone you know has been impacted, here are a few things that you can do today to honor #IOAD2019:

•Pray for those who have lost a loved one to drug overdose •Don't be afraid to ask them about the loved one/s they've lost •Educate yourself on overdose •Learn (more) about the signs/symptoms of overdose •Create an Emergency Response strategy for your home if you live with someone who is dependent on opioids or not currently in recovery from illicit drugs •Give a donation to an organization that is protecting your community from overdose harm (harm reduction) •Carry #Naloxone or #Narcan, especially if you live or work in a high risk environment •Please attend a local event for Overdose Awareness. To find an event near you please visit:
